IUJ International Students Experienced Rice-Harvesting

On September 18th, 2018, IUJ's 9 international students participated in rice-harvesting at Niigata Prefectural Kokusai Joho High School (KJ).

KJ is the only one high school in Niigata prefecture designated as Super Global High School (SGH). SGH is one of the national undertakings by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to attempt human resource development of global leaders who can work internationally in the near future. This rice-harvesting aimed learning rice farming which is the basic industry in Uonuma area.

The 9 international students are from Nepal, Myanmar, Mongol, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Mauritania. Some students are familiar with rice-harvesting, others experienced it for the first time in this event. Communicating with high school students also gave them new discoveries and made it a memorable experience here in Uonuma.

IUJ and KJ continue working together on developing globalized human resources.
